The Fourth Trimester Newborn & Maternal Care Model provides newborn and maternal care together during the first few weeks of life.
The Fourth Trimester Newborn & Maternal model was established in Arlington, MA in 2016 by family physician Eva Zasloff, MD, founder of Tova Health. We have now utilized this model for over 500 families in the greater Boston area.
All of our services are billed using standard billing codes and we have been successfully reimbursed for thousands of visits by both private and public health insurance plans.
We are dedicated to rethinking how we provide care in the US for postpartum families. Our goal is to help current practices and providers reimagine how to deliver care during this important time of life.
The Fourth Trimester Newborn & Maternal Care Model
● HOME VISITS in the first two months postpartum, with the option to add on virtual visits as needed. During these visits, both pediatric and maternal care is provided.
● CARE FOR THE BABY: Well child visits, follow ups and treat all manner of health challenges for the first two months of life. We refer out for testing and specialists as needed. The families transfer care to their long term pediatrician starting at the two month well visit. In advance of this visit, we coordinate with the pediatrician that they will be moving to and ensure a smooth transition of care.
● MATERNAL CARE: We begin each home visit checking on maternal wellness, and either address or refer the issue to the birthing team as appropriate. Families continue to follow up with their OB/GYN team as scheduled.
● COMMUNITY: Fourth trimester group visits to bring fellow families to share their experiences and check in with the provider as a community.
